Who We Are

MyScrapWorks, The Story

The writers behind MyScrapWorks (MSW) are a group of working people who are passionate about scrapbooking (or its allied arts like photography, digital graphics, etc.) and would like to see it grow by leaps and bounds locally.

Its a merry mix people you would never imagine would bond as tightly all for scrapping.

These people hold 9 to 5, highly demanding jobs but somehow has found the time to write for the site (and keep the community active and updated) gratis --- all for the love of the craft.Their respective "partners" have likewise bonded and actively support the group as it strives to keep abreast on anything and everything scrapping for the local scrapper. (See picture above of women scrappers with their respective hubbies!)

Airees Rondain is a crafter by profession and runs her own handmade cards and crafts business.
Angela Lauchengco (WebEditor) is an assistant Marketing Manager of a local shipping line.
Alby Laran is a market/consumer researcher for one of the country's biggest companies
Din Cordero is a programmer in a local company whose passion for scrapbooking he got from being married to a "tipid" scrapper Carrie who also contributes articles now and then.
Jozzie Wilhelm is a Pinay based in the US (married to a great German guy) whose card projects inspire locals thousands of miles away.
Lala Evangelista, a pharmacist by profession, actively runs two companies owned by her family --- uhmmm, make that three, hers, her husband's and her family's.
Mabelle Santiago-Rubia (WebMaster) is a marketing consultant for a multinational corporation.
Valerie Salmon is a Pinay based in the US who is perhaps the most published Pinay scrapper (not being part of any editorial staff) and actively supports local scrappers as they struggle to find their own scrapping styles.
Ernie Rubia is the photographer-husband and Paten Rosete is the photographer-buddy is WebAdmin Mabelle who both support her scrapping "addiction."

These merry mix of people are sometimes joined by an equally great mix of contributing writers. Began in March 2006, MSW just keeps on growing!

This website will always be a "work" in progress. We are continuously changing the way it looks and refocusing its editorial contents all in an effort to keep up with the fast changing pace of scrapbooking.

It is and will always be about the passion to create wonderful keepsakes.

I'm Mabelle and I live in Manila, Philippines. I started scrapping in 1998 with a groupd of friends.

My scrapbooking friends always ask where I bought a particular trinket or why I bought it and how I plan to use it. My friends always ask how I could possibly pick up a crappy looking paper and how do I transform it. They ask how I created my pages and the steps that lead to it. And I've been asked constantly to conduct scrapbooking "demos" to help out those who would like to start on the craft.

In 2006, I finally decided it was time to conduct my own (after 10 of my friends said they will signup if I do open a one-day "scrapping class" --- I have such great friends! Haha!)

Hence, the first ScrapMeet was organized - an outlet for all the creative juices wanting to find an outlet - in March 2006.

It was there that I met Angela and Lala. And that was how it started. This website that originally was intended to document ScrapMeet1 and eventually into a basic scrapping site, became a scrapping hub and a community instead (no one can do it alone!).

Emails from all over brought in more friends and contributors and that was how the site grew.

Why the name MyScrapWorks?

I always believed that EACH one scraps uniquely (MY SCRAP) and whatever design or technique one has chosen to adopt, quietly "mutates" into one's personal scrapping style that "WORKS" just for her. This is the reason why I have such deep respect for scrappers who have found their own "niche" and can create such awesome pages that make my jaw drop and touch my heart deeply.

I honestly never knew a scrapping brand called ScrapWorks existed until after I registered the domain. If I knew before hand, would have I chosen a different name? No. "MY" makes it personal.
