During the Holy Week break, my family and I went to Singapore for a few days. It was pretty much a last minute decision. I had been looking forward to staying at home and working on my scrapbook pages. But, my husband insisted on going out of town and since we couldn’t confirm our booking at Shangri-la Mactan, off to Singapore we went.

I admit I wasn’t really that excited about going to Singapore since there wasn’t much to shop there. But, of course, being the scrapaholic that I am, I started doing research on the ‘net to see if there were any scrapbook stores in Singapore. Try to google search “scrapbook store in Singapore” and it would get you nowhere! So I emailed the only 2 people I know who lived in Singapore to ask them if they knew of any stores. I was pleasantly surprised to learn of a couple of stores, mostly located in the Orchard Road! Mabelle was also kind enough to give me some of the names. So, from being Ms. Blasé about the trip, the scrapaholic in me took over and I became hyped up about going to Singapore.

STORE #1: MADE WITH LOVE

The first store I visited was Made With Love located in Plaza Singapura Mall along Orchard Road (close to Le Meridien Hotel). It’s on the 4th floor of the mall and you have to go through this big appliance store to reach Made With Love.

There’s a long corridor leading up to the store and lined on the walls are sample scrapbook pages. I thought that was a very nice way to entice people into the store, sort of like Hansel and Gretel following the cookie crumbs into the wicked witch’s house. Haha I noticed most of the brands they carried were Bazzill, Chatterbox, Basic Grey, EK Success. There was a smattering of Making Memories, Jolee’s, Provo Craft. Didn’t see any HOTP items nor Fiskars if I recall.

I went gaga over these really really cute Bazzill Chip Toppers Stickers (S$7.25 = PHP 232.00). The texture is similar to the fabric stickers of HOTP, but with colors and designs better than HOTP. They also had those Really Big Brads by Bazzill, Really Big Buttons by Bazzill, MM eyelets in value packs, different sized albums, Carl punches, embellishment kits by Chatterbox, Pagerz alphabet templates, etc. The patterned papers were mostly by Chatterbox walls and Basic Grey and you could buy them per sheet.

They also had Bazzill papers/cardstock, idea books by Creating Keepsakes. The stickers were placed in panels and I was thrilled to slide back the panel to discover MORE scrapbook goodies hidden behind the panel walls. Worth mentioning is the All My Memories 6x6 accordion mini album - Leather cover, with a picture window, 12 pages with slip-in pockets. Comes in black, apple green, baby blue and baby pink. Would make a great gift album! Got a sheet of Heidi Swapp silhouette words (S$8.95 = PHP 286.00), and Heidi Swapp Fuzzy Rub-ons (yep! Rub-ons with texture! S$8.95 = PHP 286.00). Oh yes and they actually had the Chatterbox album kit, and even the embellishment set! I also saw the Basic Grey Notch Tool Set. This is one store worth checking out! www.madewithlove.com.sg at 68 Orchard Road Plaza Singapura Unit 04-08B Singapore 238839

STORE #2: SCRAPKIDZ BY LAINE'S PAPETERIE

I stumbled onto Scrapkidz by Laine’s Papeterie by accident. I was at Paragon to go to Toys R Us, to appease my daughter Isa. Afterwards, I was checking out Guess Kids. Isa wasn’t interested in buying any new outfits, coz something else caught her eye. There was another exit at the other end of the store and right across was, lo and behold, a scrapbook store! Yup, I can see it now, a couple of years from now, Isa will be scrapbooking with me.

This was a much smaller store than Made With Love but I did notice some items that I didn’t see at MWL. Again, I saw Chatterbox, Jolee’s, ,and a lot of EK Success. Happy to say I found a number of items I’ve been looking for at this store! The Me and Me Big Ideas value pack rub-on Monograms (S$49.90 = PHP 1,597.00), all 26 letters of the alphabet in all types of fonts, shapes and sizes! Not to mention the EK Success sticko Phrase Café title stickers (S$5.90 = PHP 189.00), and the EK Success Disney Princess 12x12 Paper Paper Pack (S$16.90 = PHP 541.00)!

EK Success also has a new line called Bookworks designed by Rebecca Sower (price ranging from S$2.90-S$4.90 = PHP 93.00-PHP157.00). It has decorative rub-ons, numbers, dates, icons, business cards, and even paper string ABC’s! Bought pretty much one of each, just coz the colors are beautiful, kinda retro.

BTW, this is a very small store. Go to their first store located at Wheelock Place, also along Orchard Road.

STORE #3: TAKASHIMAYA

Takashimaya was my final stop, to visit Art Friend. And as an added bonus, I was told by the cashier of Scrapkidz there’s another scrapbook store at Takashimaya called Creative Hands. Takashimaya is adjacent to Paragon Mall, FYI. Both Art Friend and Creative Hands are located on the 4th level of tower B. Honestly, not worth visiting. You can get most of the good stuff from the 1st 2 stores I mentioned. Creative Hands did carry though a lot of different kinds of ZIG pens, plus other brands of pens. You can skip Art Friend. I just went in, took a quick look and left in under a minute! I didn’t see anything scrapbook related. Don’t even think they have a section dedicated to scrapbook items.

To those who know me and of my scrapbook spending habits, I gotta admit I practiced a lot of self-restraint and didn’t go ape-sh*t in Singapore. But then again, the total time I spent on those 4 stores, including the time it took for me to reach them was probably only 2-3 hours, tops. Give me more time and no daughter to worry about, I’m sure I would’ve gone bonkers.
