| Welcome our very own "card" doctor! |
It is always gratifying to know that the work we do here at My Scrapworks does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. We are truly humbled when we receive “pats on the back” via emails, text messages, postings on the chatterbox and the hugs you leave on the site. We are even more inspired when strangers (all the way from the other side of the globe) approach us and generously offer their talent and time to share their know-how with our valued readers.
When we featured Ms. Leah Fung in our Inspiration Series, we were thrilled to bits when Leah made special mention about us in her blog.
Thanks to Leah, the website caught the attention of a kababayan scrapper based in Illinois , U.S.A. Jocelyn Wilhelm wrote to us after learning about MSW through Leah's blog. She expressed how much she enjoyed our site and offered to write an article about card creations and altered projects. We checked out her work and needless to say, we happily welcomed her into the MSW family with open arms.
Pinoys living abroad are usually so caught up with work and their daily lives, some even holding down 2-3 jobs. So it is quite rare to find one who takes the time out from her very busy schedule and volunteers to write an article for MSW gratis! (And it's a to-do article at that!). People like Jocelyn (including Valerie, Ana, and Leah) continue to break the stereotype of pinoys who are always described as having the crab mentality. This is one pinay who unselfishly shared her creativity with all of us, all for the love of the craft. Folks, meet our new Cardologist, Ms. Jocelyn Wilhelm. |

She is passionate and inspiring. And with everything that she's into, she is one busy lady!
Jocelyn was born in Pasig , Rizal. She went to the U.S. when she was 12 years old. She's been living in the States for a number of years now. Never mind exactly how many years, not wanting to give away her age. :) She hasn't been back to the Philippines since, but plans to visit someday.
Jocelyn's happily married to Kurt for over 18 years and they have a 12 year old daughter named Ava and a 2 year old son Connor. Talk about taking a break! But breaks aren't something our artist have too many of. She's a busy WAHM (work at home Mom) operating her own online scrapbooking business, Dazzle In Style. She designs and creates custom scrapbooks and greeting cards for people. She also teaches scrapbooking and card-making classes regularly. You'll find her spending a lot of her time in her Art Studio (which will be featured in one of our Escape Series - so watch out for that one coming soon!).
When Jocelyn is not creating art on paper, you'll find her creating in the kitchen where she loves to cook... especially Filipino food! Her husband and children LOVE Filipino food! And would you believe her husband would even eat bagoong?! HAH! Talk about really loving the Filipino culture. One of Jocelyn's life goals is to write a Filipino cookbook someday...
That about sums it up for our Card Creator - our very own "card-ologist!" For more inspirations, go check out her blog. To see her layouts, visit the MSW Gallery. |

KISSING 101 ~ Everything you've always wanted to know but were afraid to ask!
I just thought that with Valentine's Day around the corner it would be appropriate to talk about kissing, don't you think?! No, not that type of kissing but the kind you do with stamping!
Kissing is a popular stamping technique that you do, when you put two stamping blocks together (preferably one solid and the other a patterned one) to create one unique image. |
| |
 |
First you need to gather all your supplies. Start with your basic, stamps, cardstock, inkpads, cleaner, paper cutter and adhesives……..then of course, the most fun part ~ embellishments! Go all out! Use your imagination…..anything goes! Now of course you know you can use ANY stamps to do this technique. So go shopping!
Anyway, here are four easy steps on how to achieve this darling look. Ready? Pucker up!!!
- Ink a patterned stamp.
- Take a solid unlinked stamp and press it against the inked patterned stamp.
- Stamp the image on cardstock. VOILA! You have the positive image (Kissed stamped) on your cardstock.
- Now let's do kissing in reverse properly termed as “Kiss Off” (your negative image). You do the same as steps 1 & 2 above, except you stamp the patterned one on your cardstock. See the difference? You've created a more tone-on-tone look.

Well folks, I hope you've enjoyed your kissing lesson for this upload! That wasn't so hard now was it?
Now remember, don't be afraid to try anything, make it fun and add spice to your technique. Add variety to your repertoire you just never know what you may come up with!!! Below are more samples of Kissing Cards that I created. Enjoy! And I hope I've inspired you! |
