You’ve seen a lot of flourishes on scrapbook pages, but did you know you could also add that extra touch by including them as a design piece to your card creations?   Flourish designs come in several shapes, ways and sizes.  You can find them in stamps, patterned paper, stickers, ribbons, chipboards, heck, you can even doodle them if you want!  So are you ready to learn? Let’s get creative and let your cards flourish!

First you need your basic supplies, cardstock, adhesive, patterned paper, pair of sharp scissors, stamps and your favorite embellishments.

Now look at some of your patterned paper.  See any flourish patterns?  Cut them out.  I know for some of you it’s hard to cut your patterned paper.  But not to worry, it’s only paper.  You can use the scraps for your scrapbook pages or to make more cards.  Look at this sample I made below.  I cut out the flower from the paper and cut out swirls free hand.  After that, I doodled around the paper and framed the card out.  Doodling is a lot of fun!  You should try it sometime.  I also added some Prima flowers for dimension.  Then who can resist some bling?  Note on the “thinking of you” I also added more flourish on that one!

Next time you go shopping, get some stamps with flourishes on them.  These designs add a nice elegant touch to your creation.  Look at the sample card I made below.  I first stamped the flourishes.  My favorite one is the Rhonna Farrer, “Flourishes” clear stamp.  (Anj:  If you would like to get the Rhona Farrer Flourishes Stamps Jozzie was talking about, head over to Pressing Matters.  I already got mine!)  After stamping I filled in the spaces with pink to coordinate with the flowers.  I also went over it with a glitter pen.  Then I added the “cherish” chipboard from My Mind’s Eye which I punched a couple of small holes to put the organdy ribbon through for a softer look.

Well, there you have it!   I hope I’ve inspired you enough to make your next card creation flourish!  ‘Till next time…..

Enjoy!
