Slip Sliding Away!
There are so many creative ways to use slides in your scrapbook layouts! You can wrap them, frame them, put monograms or titles inside them or you can even create a mini book out of them!
Use slide mounts as frames. You can use die-cuts, index prints, or cropped photos to fit inside the windows.
I've actually seen some oversized slide mounts in the market already but not packaged to be used as mini books. Try altering them a bit or make faux slide mounts from chip boards and punch holes on one side to create a mini-book.

Paint slide mounts. Use buttons, ribbons, rub-ons, patterned paper, card stock, photos, etc. --- the combination of embellishments that will work well with slide mounts are endless. With so many colors and sizes available in the market, slide mounts are really cheap, great accents we can personalize and brand as our own.

Fibers and Ribbons
I have always associated ribbons with gift wrapping or as hair accessories. It was only when I started scrapbooking that I learned ribbons (and fibers too) can also serve as a great embellishment to a layout. I know of several people whose massive collection of ribbons and fiber can rival the likes of Carolina 's House of Lace or Michelle's.
For these scrappers, their layout is not complete with these embellishments. I have seen their layouts and it never ceases to amaze me how many unique and creative designs they've managed to come up with using ribbons and fibers.

Here are just some of the many ways you can use Ribbons and Fibers as seen on the sample layouts. I hope the rookie scrapbookers will find inspiration in these works of art.
For the more seasoned scrappers who want to try something different, flip to page 87 on the April 2006 issue of Scrapbooks, Etc. There's an interesting feature on new and innovative ways you can make use of ribbons for your pages. If you can't get hold of a copy of the magazine, you can also check it out on the web. Click here.
Still can't get enough of ribbons and fibers? Scrapbook Answers magazine has great how-to articles on their website. And did you know that two of this magazine's associate editors are Pinay? (Ana Cabrera and Corinne Domingo). It just goes to show how talented Filipinos are! Click here.
While most of these links talk about ribbons, you can always experiment and use fibers instead for the techniques featured. And when you do, please send us a picture of your LO so we can display it in the gallery! Happy scrapping! |
